Hi There!
I have a couple of question about those of us considering flying in.
Is there an airport that is ideal for HPEF attendees to fly into?
Also, is there any possibility of shuttles, or is it every man for himself?
thanks!

The nearest airport I believe is Orlando International. And then the airport will have buses and taxi that you can catch to the airport for a fee. The distance from the airport to the hotel is approximately 18 miles. I'm not from the area, so there may be a better way but I think this is your best bet.

I'm not sure if HPEF has any plans for a shuttle, but the hotel has some info on its web site about transport from Orlando Intl:

Look at bus schedules a couple of days before you get down there because if you get stuck on one that stops at Disney first it will take forever to get to the hotel...I'm talking like a 2 hour ride which would normally take 20 mins.

Hi, I'm from Orlando and I can say that Orlando International is definitely your best bet. I know they have shuttles that go to the hotel and they're probably a lot cheaper than taking a taxi. Last time I took a taxi from the airport to the Universal area, it cost me around $40. But it's been awhile, a taxi might cost more or less.

Thanks I usually take a taxi when I come from the airport but we'll see.

I asked someone from the office who just came back 3 days ago from Disney and she said the taxi was $50 from hotel to the airport.

I always take a shuttle when I go to HP cons. They usaully end up being around $30 (plus tip if they are decent) for a roundtrip. It is faster and easier (you don't have to drag around luggage or worry about getting lost) than public transportation if it is available in the host city. It is cheaper than taking a taxi, but it can take a little longer if there many people going to different hotels. For me, I would rather waste a little of my time than spend extra money or lug around 90 pounds of luggage in city I am not familar with.

I searched around for shuttles and the only one that I felt comfortable possibly taking was a company called Mears, which ironically is the one listed on the Universal hotel website.

Also, this on the Infinitus website.
How can I get to the hotel from the airport?

We will be working with Mears transportation to provide a special rate for their regularly scheduled shuttles from the airport to the Universal Studios hotels. Details will be provided at a later date.
If you are traveling by yourself, I definitely think the smart choice is to take a shuttle.
