non-registered guests and the ball

I'm sorry to have to do this to you (but someone was going to, sooner or later, I guess :( ). It looks like I'm coming to Dallas with my husband, who will not be registered for the con. Will I be able to buy a ball ticket for him? Is there anything else you would like to say about non-registered guests?

Hi there,

Unfortunately, only registered attendees may purchase extra ticket items like the Ball. The hotel is open for non-registered attendees, of course, but all of the Portus Programming rooms will be restricted to folks with badges.

An alternative is for your husband to buy a day pass for Saturday, and this will allow him to purchase a ticket for the ball that evening.

You could go ahead and get him interested in HP now, so that by the time Portus arrives next year he'll actually WANT to go with you ;)
