okay, i'm not getting a room yet BUT i just wanted to see what people think of rooming w/ chaperone-required peeps.
I will be 16 when Portus rolls around and I am very open minded to all sorts of habits and people! the problem is my age, i am just wondering what peoples thoughts are on sharing with a 16 year old... If you think it would suck, tell me. If you wouldn't mind, tell me!

Will you be rooming with your chaperon? If so maybe you could find a room with another under 18 person that also is rooming with a chaperon. Just an idea. I do think you would have more luck rooming with people under 21 (due to drinking age and if the over 21 people want drink in there room). Good luck finding a roommate.:D

i don't have a chaperone, so basically i need an "internet order" chaperone...then i can talk to them on the phone and get everything squared away. s'pose i would room w/ them though; I know most 21+ people wouldn't want a 16 year old in their room but i don't care how drunk anyone gets...it's not as if people my age haven't seen that stuff before!

It's not really the fact that you might have a problem with the drinking it's the hotel rules. Alot of hotels have really hard rules about room parties with drinking in a guest room with someone under age also in the room. That being said a large number of people won't care (or won't be having room parties) but there are some that will. Good luck in finding roommates and a chaperone.:D

I wouldn't mind sharing a room with an under-ager. I was going to get the room in 2 weeks when my commishion check comes in and reserve when I know they wont freeze my card. We can work out the details later if you are intrested.
My ex-boyfriend has the problem with me getting a room mate. But I really don't care.

Not only is it unwise to find a chaperone online it is dangerous. Be aware that you will be required to submit a notarized form signed by a parent or legal guardian givng permission for you to attend with the named chaperone. All chaperones must be at least 21 years old. I suggest that you find someone your parents know and trust to accompany you to Portus.

thanks ;) it's nice to know that i have a chance.
i know it's probably dangerous to get an internet-order chaperone but I don't know any adults obsessed enough to come to a HP conference...:o :(

Then I retract my ofer. I don't want to be labled as "weird" or someone who wants to room with only minors. Hope you have the best of luck!

I dont think it would be that big of a deal this year all my roomates were fine with the fact that i was under 18.

I honestly wouldn't care. I am chaparoning my 14 yr old sister. So I know what it's like with teenies and too much sugar. :) Since you are older I know you won't be as nutzo as she is. But do talk to your parents about it first.

I have the same problem. At the time of the convention, I'll still be a few months shy of 18. No one I know over the age of 21 is obsessed enough to chaperone me without me paying for them. I hope it doesn't come to that because I live 20 minutes away from the hotel and would hate to miss the convention because I couldn't find a chaperone.

Komakinomatic, I think you and I are in the same boat. I'll be 17 at the time of Portus, and since I have to pay for my own registration I can't find anyone I know of age who'd be willing to shell out the registration price and time to hang around a HP convention. I hope you find a chaperone!!!! :]

If there was a way to chaparone another I would. I don't mind but parents are finiky.

My mum is pretty east going about me finding my own chaperone considering I'm not miles away from home. Are you still interested in chaparoning?

Hey i haven't officially registered but I am so good at arguing i will be. I am 14 and I am really mature like I scare people. My mom is taking me and i haven't asked her but she is really coll and i am almost 100% sure she would say yes, especially because this would reduce our cost. So if you still need chaperone I'm sure she would be happy to help.
