Right now I am searching around for a good location for the dinner after SnapeFest.
The Hilton Anatole has some decent choices here (http://www1.hilton.com/en_US/hi/hotel/DFWANHH-Hilton-Anatole-Texas/dining.do;jsessionid=A2D389F79133033AADF2FF5439911 889.etc12).
Also my husband is from Dallas and he says the hotel is very near a trendy area called Cedar Springs. Would people be willing to travel (e.g. take a bus etc)?
One option I like is Medievil Times (http://www.medievaltimes.com/). There is supposedly one nearby (5 min walking distance). The only thing is that it is pretty expensive: $42-60 per person, but that includes 2 hours of live entertainment.
What do you guys think? Where should we dine in honor of Snape?

Since it looks like I will have to go to this bloody conference whether I like it or not I figure I may as well get a decent meal out of it. Here are some suggestions...
This place called Sevy's (http://www.sevys.com/Pages/HomePage.htm) (you crazy fans should love this)
OR
Mortons (http://www.mortons.com/404.php) (because a quality steak will be a good start towards making me happy)

30 seconds after registering, so obviously I'll just jump right into the discussions. I think Medieval Times would be fun because it would have the feast feel of Hogwarts as well as being super close to the Anatole (I grew up in nearby Irving and know the area well).

My husband lived in Irving for a while. :) Do you know how close this Sevy's Grill place is to the hotel?

It's a drive for sure, maybe 15 minutes or so?
Ahh, Irving :)

Hmmm maybe I will look into the prices of getting a coach. It will all depend on how many SnapeFesters decide to attend the dinner.

I'd go. I live in Cali...I do a lot of driving...so that's no big deal to me...15 min? No problem. Anything for Snape.

I live in dallas, so I'm game for anywhere. also, I have this thing I call a 'mini-hearse' (black kia rio cinco) which comes in handy and I can offer some people rides to dinner if necessary.

That would be nice. I wonder how many more people will have cars?

That would be too appropriate...riding to Sevy's in a hearse. My husband has family in Dallas so we might be able to swing an informal carpooling.

Going to Sevy's in a hearse - how awesome. :D
I'm really diggin the idea of going to a place called Sevy's in honor of Severus's half birthday. The menu even sounds yummy, and there's outdoor seating if the weather's nice. That said, we could always go to Sevy's for after-dinner drinks too if we eat elsewhere. Honestly, in the interest of not having to change out of robes to go to an "elegant" place, I'd prefer somewhere I don't have to dress up for. (We don't want to lose Rachael if she shows up in her latex Snape get-up.) Which is why Medievil Times sounded like fun, but price-wise that could lose some people. And at Medievil times you really can only talk to the people directly left and right of you, and I'm up for a group thing after having bonded thru hours of Snaping.
Those are my thoughts so far. I don't know Dallas well so when it comes down to it, if it's a new place I'm eating at, I'm down for whatever. The only elegance I expect in my dinner is the red wine I'll unceremoniously polish.

I'm scared that Medevial Times will make it all about the huzzah and the leather mugs and the big drumsticks and I want it to be about Snape.

I agree...it's all about Snape. Food, Wine, Snogging...I mean...Talking about Snape.

All,
I've reserved a place at Sevy's for us on July 9 so unless something goes wrong, I think that will be the place. We're still working on finding transportation.

I've never been to Dallas (except the airport), and I won't have a ride while I'm there, but will take a bus or whatever. Medieval Times is definitely a good option, but Sevy's looks good. They promote that they'll plan special menus and have rooms where we might get a private reserve. That way we can continue our discussions. What I'm really looking forward to is the candle ceremony. See you there!

We have a reservation at Sevy's and are organizing transportation.
