I've never attended an HP event before. I am going to try to convince my parents to let me go. Could anybody give me details on registration, fees, rooming etc.? That would really help me explain to them what this is about and give me a chance of going!

There is the Infinitus 2010 (http://www.infinitus2010.org/) website. It has no real information on it now because it is still so far away, but as it gets closer, the organizers will begin to add more info.

I would tell you to look at the Azkatraz 2009 (http://www.hp2009.org/) website because the general info will be very similar for Infinitus 2010. Registration for Infinitus 2010 is not open yet, but you could use the registration info from Azkatraz 2009 to get the general idea of what the price might be and what events that could be included in a Basic Registration. Here is a link (http://www.hp2009.org/?q=node/16#reg) that you might find helpful. I am not exactly sure what you mean by fees. I am going to guess that you are talking about events not included in the Basic Registration such as special guest brunches/lunches/desserts or things like the Smashing Times Mosaic Workshop (during Portus 2008) and the Creativity Is Magic Claymation Workshops (http://www.hp2009.org/?q=node/40) (during Azkatraz 2009). Information and prices about these types of events is not given out until the organizers officially announce them.

Here is some info about rooms for Infinitus 2010.
Universal is taking hotel reservations! Please call the group reservations number, 866-360-7395, and let them know you're with Infinitus. Here are a few things to remember:
•Royal Pacific room rate: $210/night
•Portofino Bay room rate: $210/night
•Hard Rock Hotel room rate: $255/night
•There aren't a lot of rooms reserved at the Hard Rock so book early if that's where you want to stay.
•The conference area is in the Royal Pacific hotel. Water taxis will be available for attendees staying in the other two hotels.
•Registration for the conference itself will open right after Azkatraz. Azkatraz attendees will be able to register early for Infinitus on site.

Let us know if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing you all there!!

If the room rate is too high for you, you can do what most others do and get roommates to share cost. You can post here on the HPEF forums if you are looking to share a room.

If you are wondering about Formal Programming, Informal Programming, and other events, I would really advise you to explore the websites for Azkatraz 2009 (http://www.hp2009.org/) and Portus 2008 (http://www.portus2008.org/) because I think they contain a lot of info that would help you picture what goes on during HP cons.

Since I am not sure of you are a minor and don't know if you know about the requirements for minors, I am going to post this info about it. (You need to be 14 years old or older before Infinitus 2010 starts.)
If you are under 18, you will need a chaperone. Chaperones must be 21. If someone other than your parent will be your chaperone, you must also provide a form signed by your parent giving that person permission to chaperone. I don't know the rate at which either registrations will fill up. We will provide status reports if we're getting close to either maximum. Thanks for your question!

I hope that this will help you some while you wait for one of the organizers to answer your questions.

Wow - Thank you Miss Freewind for all that info. We will have registration up soon for Infinitus. Remember that we will have park tickets available for attendees which will be extra cost. There will be park events included in your registration but if you want to spend days before or after the con in the park, you'll have to buy those seperately. Prices for keynote luncheons and extra events shouldn't differ much from years before so feel free to look at the Azkatraz and Portus sites to get an idea of what you would like to add onto your basic registration. Thanks for your questions!
